Earlier this year, Stephane Poux and Emmett 'Roof Access' Cruddass (the co-presenters of The Gelato Show on Balamii) announced they were putting together a compilation of UK and French rap, trap and drill appropriately titled The Gelato Tape. Today we're getting another taste of the EP; this time a track called "Ness" from JMK$ and Beamer of French crew Summum Klan. The track was produced by Merci Jitter's Daniel Ness and, as they explain below, is a play on his name, video game character Ness and the NES itself. For the video, the pair headed out to French city of Lyon with Ian Vandooren, Lucas Vandooren of Pièges Studios to trade bars under the floodlights.

"This song is a reference to Ness, a character from the Super Smash Bros videogame. He's got a little cap on, tilted to the side and he's got mad powers. He kind of reminds me of a rapper, hence why the lyrics go Je porte ma casquette comme le Ness / Je suis sur Nintendo, sur NES (I wear my cap like I'm Ness, I'm on Nintendo, on NES).

"I've made this tune with my guy, Beamer; we're in the same group, Summum Klan (JMK$, Juni, Beamer, Caspi). We were in Lyon for a few days and quickly shot this banger Daniel Ness produced. The brothers behind Pièges Studios directed the 'Ness' video and they really are the best at doing this sort of video."

The Gelato Tape drops February 22. Also featured on the mixtape are Londoners Kam-Bu & Pullen, Kish! of 237 Crew, Master Peace and his brother YS Tekdinner, and Toulouse-based rapper Retro-X.
