About four months ago, John Mayer performed at the iHeartRadio Theater in Southern California, where he debuted a slow ballad called “I Guess I Just Feel Like.” Mayer told the audience he had written the song shortly before taking the stage.
“Thank you for listening to that new song, which is decidedly not a hit, let me just say," the Complex cover star said. "There's nothing hit-like about it. But sometimes you've just got to tell the truth with a guitar and then you can get back to playing some hit songs."
On Thursday, Mayer released “I Guess I Just Feel Like” on streaming services. He expanded on the song and how it came to be in an Instagram post Thursday; he did not, however, reveal if the record would land on a proper studio album.
“I Guess I Just Feel Like” is available now on Apple Music, iTunes, and via Spotify below.
Mayer is now preparing to embark on a North American tour, which will run from July 19 to Sept. 14. Take a look at the dates below.
