The track will be featured on Zayn's upcoming (and, publicly at least, titleless) new album. "You get a different perspective, which is cool," Zayn, speaking on how hitting 25 has affected his work in a new interview with British Vogue.
In fact, that quarter-century benchmark has helped Zayn reconcile his increasing aversion to the typical promo obligations surrounding new albums. "We were meant to be releasing around February, March time, but a lot of it comes down to what promotion I'm willing to do," he said, attributing this new outlook to "a progression" of his age and experience.
"No Candle No Light" follows almost exactly one month after the release of the Saltwives-produced "Fingers," a song that quite relatably opens with the word "fucked."
Zayn's solo debut Mind of Mine arrived in early 2016, complete with eventual hits like "Pillowtalk" and "It's You." The untitled follow-up currently has no confirmed release date, though the bulk of Zayn's 2018 activity strongly suggest that we will be getting it soon enough. As Zayn told fans earlier this month, he currently feels held back by the Powers That Be:
