Premiere: Tasman Keith Tells His Story with "Mission Famous" EP

The "My Pelopolees" rapper comes through with a strong debut EP

First came "Might Snap" in 2017. Next up was the heavyweight one-two combination of "My Pelopolees" and "Divided". Now comes the EP from Tasman Keith, Mission Famous

After three head-turning singles, Keith finds himself with more room to move in the EP format, and ultimately reveals more about himself. His introspective lyrics often read like diary entries, while the production leans toward a contemporary west coast influence. If you've ever wondered what it might sound like if TDE's Top Dawg had established his label in NSW rather than California, this might just be the answer.

On Mission Famous, Tasman Keith tells us a compelling story; a proud Gumbaynggirr man who, despite wrestling with his mental health and the inequality facing Australia’s Indigenous population, refuses to let his back hit the canvas. It’s a story he tells with slang specific to his family in regional NSW, but via the globally understood language of contemporary hip-hop.

Hip-hop is, at its core, about telling our own story. With that in mind, Tasman Keith's blunt honesty and powerful message of self-empowerment makes Mission Famous one of the best examples of pure Australian hip-hop we’ve been treated to in 2018.

Stream the EP above, and check for Mission Famous on all platforms when it drops October 26.
