Blocboy JB Pays Homage to Lil Wayne With "Go DJ" Remix

With the long-awaited release of Lil Wayne's 'Tha Carter V' finally among us, everyone is paying their respects to Weezy's highly-anticipated comeback.

With the long-awaited release of Lil Wayne's Tha Carter V finally upon us, everyone is paying their respects to Weezy's highly-anticipated comeback. Blocboy JB, however, is going the extra mile. Delivering a homage to Tunechi, BlocBoy JB has shared his remix of Wayne's 2004 Tha Carter single "Go DJ"—a song that heavily borrows from former Cash Money artist U.N.L.V.'s "Go DJ."

It's definitely a trip to hear the 22-year-old rapper over some throwback Mannie Fresh production, but he more than lives up to the idea of such a remix. Tackling the beat with the same effortless flow we've come to expect from the Memphis artist, BlocBoy's remix acts as a reminder of just how prominent Wayne's legacy really is. In fact, BlocBoy wouldn't have even been ten years old when "Go DJ" originally released.

The release of BlocBoy's "Go DJ" remix arrives just as Tha Carter V hits the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200, proving that all the legal issues and delays have ultimately been worth the wait. BlocBoy, meanwhile, seems to be teasing a new release of his own, writing on Twitter last month, "Dropping in a couple weeks."

Dropping In A Couple Weeks

It's been over two weeks since he posted the tweet, so hopefully it means whatever he's got cooking up will be dropping sooner rather than later. Until then, however, check out his remix of "Go DJ" above.
