Newark Symphony Hall announced the cancelation via Twitter.

Dexter Thomas, the CEO of the promotion company behind the show, told NBC New York the concert was called off to avoid a potential attack. The promoter said local police received a phone call Friday night from someone who threatened to shoot A Boogie as well as concertgoers.

Police did not confirm Thomas’ claims, but said the cancelation was “in the interest of public safety.”

A Boogie eventually caught wind of the report and immediately called it a lie.

“Mf’s be lien I got no static with ANYONE,” he captioned the screenshot of an article, “it’s nothing but love over here […] Newark if ya want a show book me I gotchu.”

The concert was supposed to take place at 8 p.m. ET with appearances by PnB Rock and Funk Flex. Thomas told NBC New York that the event was intended to promote peace and non-violence within the community. He also claims it is impossible to immediately reschedule the show.
