The artwork features colorful cosmic imagery as well as two lines of text that read, "As was promised - the keys to Eternal Atake are here again in Luv and Rage [The UFO 2] as Lil Uzi Vert and his Father 2000 yrs. ago."
As fans on Twitter were quick to point out, the artwork is a direct reference to imagery used by the Heaven's Gate cult—a UFO-based religious cult that existed in America for decades before leading to a mass suicide of 39 members in 1997. The members believed Earth was about to be wiped clean and "recycled," so they committed suicide together in an attempt to reach a spacecraft they thought was hiding behind the Hale-Bopp comet. The cult was lead by Marshall Applewhite, who is pictured in Uzi's current profile photo on Instagram.
Adding some doubt as to whether the image will actually be used as the cover artwork for Eternal Atake or not, Uzi included a mysterious IG caption that says, "Wanna hear? Do you think This is Track list cover or real deal."
Earlier this month, Uzi began teasing the Eternal Atake title with a series of cryptic messages on social media.
On Twitter, he explained, "Eternal means forever. Atake means 2 overtake."
As is usually the case with Uzi, further details about the album are surrounded by mystery. But it does appear he finally has control of his Instagram again after months of strange activity led many fans to believe he was hacked. On Tuesday, he wiped the whole account clean, besides the Eternal Atake artwork and his viral dance routine from June. If for some reason you still haven't witnessed the magic of that clip yet, watch below.
