After spending more than a decade working behind the scenes, super producer Benny Blanco has finally released his debut record, “Eastside.”

Khalid and Halsey assist the guitar-driven mid-tempo track, exchanging verses about the evolution of a forbidden love and how it became increasingly complicated with age. Halsey sings:

17 and we got a dream to have a family
A house and everything in between
And then, oh, suddenly we turned 23
Now we got pressure for taking our life more seriously
We got our dead-end jobs and got bills to pay

Blanco premiered the single Thursday during an appearance on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 radio show. During the interview, the producer spoke about the creation of the record and how it was truly a group effort among acts like Cashmere Cat, Ed Sheeran, Andrew White, and, of course, Khalid and Halsey.

“Look, this is how I work on records, man. I’m not a part of this like old-school, like, one person does this,” he explained. “It’s like, if I have a homie over, and they're listening to the song and they're like, ‘Oh, I got a guitar lick for that,’ or ‘Let me throw some drums on that,’ ‘Let me let me do this.’ Sometimes, they're half-finished songs from four years before. For me, it's just the way music comes together. It doesn't have to be like a job, man. It is supposed to be fun. If we wanted jobs, we would've taken nine to fives, behind desks.”

You can check out “Eastside” now on Apple Music/iTunes, Spotify, and the Jake Schreier-directed video above.

The video for "Eastside" uses the same concept as the visuals for Cashmere Cat's  "9 (After Coachella)," which was also directed by Jake Schreier, as well as Adam Newport-Berra.
