"This past year has been extremely hard for me," she previously wrote on Instagram after announcing the tape's release. "I lost my brother to cancer and went through a extreme depression and creatively I felt trapped with my project being held up due to samples. I lost my way and decided to take initiative by recording and putting together music for my fans all on my own because I felt it was time. Thank you for everyone who has been patient. This is only the beginning."
Kamaiyah, who we ranked as one of the best rappers in their 20s in 2017, stated that she's also working on a featureless project titled Woke, with the idea being that the two projects would come out back-to-back to make up for lost time caused by the delay of her debut studio album.
