Shortly after sharing video of an hour-long conversation with comedian Jerrod Carmichael, Tyler the Creator sat down for another in-depth interview on The Shane Show with host Shane Powers.

At the 50:50 mark, Tyler is asked if he thinks he'll win this year's Grammy for Best Rap Album over fellow nominees Jay Z, Kendrick Lamar, Migos, and Rapsody. Tyler replied, "Yes." He added, "I think I should win. Something different needs to win. I love Jay, but fuck. You have Grammys, dog. And I love Kendrick, and I think Damn was awesome. 'XXX' was my favorite song on that album. But fuck, [he's] nominated for six other ones. Let him get one of those."

Tyler added, "I think it would be tight if I won, just because it's something different. And there's no one speaking for those people. I don't even want to use the word weird, because I feel like that's a cheap word—or eclectic. But [this is for] the 'me's'. We're rarely up there. I know if I win something, they'll feel like they won something."

Tyler also talked about conversations he's had with Elon Musk.

"He's really cool," Tyler said. "He just loved the design aesthetic of McLaren and how sleek and cool it was. In the early 90s, they had a car called the F1 that had three seats. He, like me, appreciated that they went for that. He always looks at things like that when it comes to him doing SpaceX or Tesla or whatever he's into at the moment."

Despite his relationship with Elon Musk, Tyler was hesitant about ever wanting to visit a place like Mars. He explained, "There's nothing on Mars. There's no air. There's no food. I don't know if I can listen to music yet. I'll go on trip nine or twelve." He added, "Everything I'm into is here."

Then, Tyler revealed he'll be performing right before Beyoncé at Coachella 2018. "It's not nerve wracking, but I know how her fans are," he said. "I could be performing and the first 20,000 people in the front are like, 'Get the fuck off stage, we want to see Beyoncé.'" Tyler said he was happy about the spot, though: "If anything, I go crazy hard and make sure the show is way better when shit like that happens."

Later, Powers asked Tyler about trying drugs. "Not yet," Tyler responded. "I'll probably do shrooms one day. But for now, I'm good."

Elsewhere in the conversation, Tyler talked about his favorite Flower Boy song ("Sometimes"), revealed that he's working on a wild new stage design for tour, discussed being an inspiration for new artists like Brockhampton, and more. Listen on SoundCloud below.
