Of course, the Christmas trees have to come down along with the overall yuletide cheer after the 25th. The days leading up to New Year's Eve see the sad, briefly loved evergreens adorn the sidewalks in piles among the regular refuse. But a common question concerns exactly when is the right time to take down your tree. Holiday non-expert Ryan Seacrest didn't have the answer, so he turned to Twitter.

When is it appropriate to take down your Christmas tree and decorations? Asking for a friend

The Queen of Christmas Mariah Carey saw the tweet and came through with an answer for the beleagured personality.

Dahhling! Not till July 4th! 😉 https://t.co/uO4YqRRxU8

Well that settles that: July 4th is the perfect date to consider removing your Christmas tree, according to holiday expert Mariah Carey.

In addition to handing out holiday advice, Carey is getting ready to perform at Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve, which is hosted by Seacrest. This time around she's looking to bounce back from her disasterous performance at the event last year.

"We can all agree that last year didn’t go exactly as planned and we are thrilled to move forward together to provide America with an incredible night of music and celebration on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2018," Carey and Dick Clark Productions said in a joint statement. “See you in Times Square!” At the very least, Seacrest will head into the festivities with less confusion about Christmas tree ettiquette.
