Jada Pinkett Smith shed more light on her relationship with 2Pac, revealing she had met the late rapper while she was working as a drug dealer. The 45-year-old actress shared the detail while promoting her new film Girls Trip on SiriusXM’s Sway in the Morning.

“It’s kind of hard because I haven't really told the whole story,” she explained about her relationship with Pac (16:30 mark). “One of the things that's very interesting that I've never really said before is that when I first met Pac, when we first met, I was a drug dealer […] That’s how we started.”

Smith said she didn’t want to reveal too much information about her relationship with Pac, as she plans to address the matter in an upcoming book. She did, however, insist people have made their connection into something it wasn’t.

“I know that most people wanna always connect us in this romance thing, but that's just because they don't have the story,” Smith explained. “It was based in survival, how we held each other down, you know what I’m saying?”

Smith said she met the rapper during the end of her drug dealing days, around the same time Pac was getting into that life. And although the two were going their separate ways, they provided support for one another.

“It wasn't just about, ‘You have this cute girl and this cool guy they must have been in this romance.’ Nah. It wasn’t that at all,” she said. “It was about survival and it's always been about survival between us.”

Smith also mentioned her two children around the 7:50 mark, talking about Jaden’s unpredictability and Willow’s upcoming music projects. Of course, Will Smith was also brought up when Sway asked the actress if she would support her husband releasing an album like Jay Z’s 4:44.

“Hell yeah I would stand by him,” Smith said around the 11:38 mark, insisting they had nothing to hide. “There’s no secrets, you know what I’m saying? That's the thing, there are no secrets—that's basically what Jay is saying. We all going through the same shit. It’s all the same. It’s just about how do you handle your situation and that's where we grow and that's what relationships are for.”

As part of her promotional tour, Smith also made an appearance on SiriusXM’s The Jenny McCarthy Show, where she spoke about her boycott of the 88th Academy Awards. Though many people assumed the boycott was a response to Will’s Oscar snub, she said that wasn’t the case; in fact, Will didn’t know about the boycott video until after it was filmed.

Smith also opened up about her approach to parenting and how she makes no apologies for her methods, despite what others might think.
