The reported fight between Azealia Banks and Russell Crowe was equal parts sad and bizarre. The 25-year-old rapper claimed the actor had physically and verbally assaulted her during his party at the Beverly Hills Hotel earlier this month. Days following the incident, Banks shared a detailed account, in which accused Crowe of choking her, spitting on her, and using racial slurs. The actor and several of his party guests have since denied these claims, which resulted in a classic case of he said, she said. Banks and Crowe said they were confident the hotel’s security cameras would confirm their stories on what really went down that night. But, unfortunately for them, that isn’t going to happen.
According to TMZ, officers have reviewed the hotel’s surveillance videos and have found no footage of the reported fight between the two. The publication says the hotel is equipped with many cameras in its public spaces, but not in the hallway where the alleged altercation took place. So it sounds like its back to he said, she said.
Banks has since filed a battery report, but has yet to press charges against Crowe. She admits she said some unflattering things about the actor, but his reaction was uncalled for: "I told him he was old and fat, the entire room gasped and THAT was when I became a target," Banks wrote on Facebook. "Grabbing them by the neck, calling them ni**er and tossing them out is not the look. NOR Is spitting an acceptable form of self-defense. I will be moving forward with Pressing charges.”
“Before the night is over Azealia is insulting half the room she becomes loud and obnoxious. There was nothing funny about her behavior,” RZA wrote. “I felt a little embarrassed because she was my guest. Still verbal abuse can be tolerated but when it goes physical... Azealia threaten to cut a girl in the face with a glass, then actually grabs a glass and physically attacks for no logical reason. Russell blocked the attack and expelled her from the suite.”
