Long before we first brought them to your attention, dub duo Ink Project were astounding audiences with their impressive stage set-up which is built around a unique combination of instruments, live and sub-bass, theremin, FX, DJing, live looping, drums and vocal performances. Sitting somewhere between Young Fathers and Massive Attack, the pop-tinged, soulful brand of dub at the heart of "Time" goes along way to diffusing any accusations that technical wizardry and catchy songwriting can't sit well together. The EP (due July 29) backs the original version of "Time" with an almost orchestral remix from Nine Volt Rumour, a breaks-led remix from Coreysan that takes it as close to club territory as possible and finally a dub version from Grant Dell that dials the tempo right back from the previous remixes, pushing the spacious reggae and dub elements to the fore in a way that would make Coxsone and Studio One proud.
