Last night, Kendrick Lamar dropped his long-awaited new album, To Pimp a Butterfly, a week ahead of schedule. The predominantly mid-tempo, jazz-influenced sound explored on To Pimp a Butterfly is a pretty distinct departure from good kid, m.A.A.d city and is bound to surprise newer Kendrick fans who were expecting 16 tracks' worth of “Bitch, Don’t Kill My Vibe.” To Pimp a Butterfly features everyone from Bilal to Snoop Dogg and even includes a few recognizable samples from artists like Michael Jackson and the Isley Brothers. Check out the playlist below to listen to a few of the tracks that inspired one of 2015’s most anticipated releases.
