Watch Pharrell Perform "Happy", Karen O and Ezra Koenig Perform "The Moon Song" and U2 Perform "Ordinary Love" at the Oscars

The Pharrell hat returns.

Tonight, the 2014 Oscars are taking place in Hollywood, California, and, to liven the show up, the producers scheduled several musical performances. In addition to performances from P!nk and BetteMidler, the show also features Best Original Song nominees U2, Karen O of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs (along with Vampire Weekend's Ezra Koenig), Idina Menzel of Frozen and Pharrell, whose single "Happy" appeared in the movie Despicable Me 2 and also recently hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

For the performance, Pharrell brought back his now-famous Grammy hat, and he performed with a broad cast of backup dancers that brought out a bit of a "Soul Train" vibe. He also headed into the audience to dance with stars like Meryl Streep and, critically, Best Supporting Actress nominee Lupita Nyong'o, yielding the following amazing GIFs:

Pharrell's new solo album, G I R L, comes out this week. Check out the performance above and the full list of Best Original Song nominees below.
