On "Everything I Am," Kanye West coolly announced, “Common passed on this beat, I made it to a jam.” It wasn’t so much a prophetic declaration as it was a demonstration of the perplexities of the rap game. Hindsight is 20/20, but history has shown us time and again that one artist’s leftover can become someone else’s biggest hit ever. That's not to say that if history was altered and the original artist had kept the beat they would have made the same song as it eventually became. But it does show how life is filled with so many "What if?" moments.
