Rihanna and Dave LaChapelle aren't seeing eye to eye. The photographer sued RiRi for a copyright claim against her "S&M" video in February, and now the judge in the case has scheduled a pre-trial hearing for August 10.
LaChapelle claims that certain sadomasochistic scenes in Rihanna's video are complete rip-off's of work he's done over the years and her attempt to create a "LaChapelle-esque video" with her directors. The court ruled that certain elements are not protectable, but certain scenes and mood of the video were considered "substantially similar."
The two will see each other in court if Rihanna thinks it's worth the risk to defend the claims by LaChapelle or she can settle out of court.
