Today in people doing a much better job of helping hurricane victims than the alleged POTUS, we are discussing Tidal's superb initiative to get 200,000 pounds of much-needed supplies to Puerto Rico. The best part? You can directly help Tidal fill this cargo plane with supplies in a few simple ways.

The plane, pictured below, must be filled with disaster relief supplies by Oct. 5. New Yorkers can drop off approved supplies at multiple locations, while those outside the New York area are encouraged to make donations via the Tidal website. Tidal has set up drop-off locations—available between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. every day until Oct. 5—in Albany, Syracuse, Yonkers, Brooklyn, and elsewhere. The project, a collaboration with New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, has plans on sending multiple cargo planes to Puerto Rico. Currently, the following items are being accepted for donations:

  • batteries
  • flashlights
  • portable lanterns
  • diapers
  • baby wipes
  • cases of water
  • feminine hygiene products

Tidal has requested that all donated items remain in their original packaging.

In addition to the cargo plane initiative, Tidal is hosting its third annual Tidal X: Brooklyn charity concert Oct. 17. Jay Z, DJ Khaled, Fat Joe, Vic Mensa, Willow Smith, Fifth Harmony, Lin-Manuel Miranda, and many more are scheduled to appear. All net proceeds from the concert will be donated to disaster relief and recovery organizations.

"After seeing the terrible devastation in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands firsthand, it is clear that those affected by these natural disasters need our help more than ever," Gov. Cuomo said. "We in New York are putting the full weight of our resources behind recovery efforts, and I am grateful to Tidal X: Brooklyn and its sponsors for joining us and helping to deliver much-needed goods to people in desperate need."

There are other ways to help those affected, including donating blood, contributing to crowdfunding campaigns, volunteering, and spreading awareness.
