As of early Friday morning, perABC4, three homes had been destroyed and more than 150 acres were burned in the fire spotted in social media posts in the Bountiful and Centerville regions. At least eight more homes have also been affected, though they haven't been deemed "total losses" like the three confirmed as destroyed. Evacuation orders were put in place for over 400 people whose homes fall between east of 900 East and north of 400 North.

One possible cause that will be investigated, according to reporter Shara Park, is lightning. Reporters and other local leaders have also cautioned against misinformation spurred by the fire's nickname, noting that the nearby gun range had not been deemed a cause. Instead, the Gun Range Fire had simply been named as such following regional precedent.

As it stands now, there have been no reported injuries. A Friday morning press conference, per FOX13, saw local fire officials confirming that potential for structural damage had now "been diminished," though evacuations remained in effect at the time, pending further reassessment.

We will reevaluate the evacuation order at 9:00 a.m. We are hoping the weather and wind will cooperate to make it safe to go home. pic.twitter.com/dJlu4oR09Y

A cause for the blaze has not been determined by officials. In a statement early Friday, Centerville Police thanked residents for bringing food and other donations to crews. "We are no longer in need of anymore donations at this time," a department rep said.

NEW: #GunRangeFire has burned 3 homes, grown to 150 acres, and is 0% contained 🔥 No school closures, so far. The name of the fire is based on location, NOT cause. There is a gun range nearby (1600 E 900 N) #2NewsAM pic.twitter.com/eaSF0Xbuhm

This is video as we left the house at 1:12am. So glad we were still awake and got out fast. No clue if our house is okay or gone. #GunRangeFire pic.twitter.com/4fcXIxB6Y2
