Michael Avenatti continues to push the idea of making a presidential run in 2020. During his appearance at Vanity Fair’s New Establishment Summit on Wednesday, Avenatti explained why he would be the right choice to compete against Donald Trump. "The future of the Republic will hinge on the outcome of that race," he said. "In the event that Donald Trump is the nominee on the right, it’s going to take someone very unique to beat him."
"If we have to crawl in the gutter with this person, then that’s what we have to do," Avenatti said. "You’re not going to beat Donald Trump with a message of universal love. This guy will eat you alive." Avenatti rose to fame as the outspoken lawyer representing Stormy Daniels in her lawsuit against Trump. He has managed to become a mainstay in the political sphere and recently entered the public consciousness again by bringing forward Julie Swetnick, the third woman to accuse Brett Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct during his Supreme Court nomination process.
If Avenatti were to make a run, he admits that there are "baby skeletons" in his closet that could be resurrected, but nothing that he's too concerned about. "I led a life. There’s a lot of things that I did that I should not have done," he said. "I'm not concerned about large skeletons coming out of the closet. Everybody has baby skeletons under the floor board."
In the meantime, Avenatti is continuing his ongoing feud with Trump by taking aim at his son.
There has to be better (less embarrassing) options than Avenatti out there. There has to be.
