Dominique Brown, a popular Disney-focused influencer, died at 34 after consuming food containing ingredients she was allergic to.
On Thursday, Dec. 5, Brown attended an event hosted by pop culture retailer BoxLunch. According to attendees, the influencer died after unknowingly eating food which caused a severe allergic reaction.
According to fellow Disney influencer Matt Desmond, the food was allegedly not properly marked with its ingredients.
In a statement made to Us Weekly, BoxLunch said, "We are devastated by the passing of Dominique Brown, a beloved member of the BoxLunch Collective, who suffered a medical emergency at an event hosted by BoxLunch Thursday in Los Angeles. Our hearts go out to her family and friends, and we will do everything we can to support them and the members of the BoxLunch Collective and our team during this painful time."
According to a source via Us Weekly, the company alerted the venue prior to the event of Brown's allergies. BoxLunch is offering grief counseling to both staff and members of the BoxLunch Collective, which Brown was also a member. An independent investigation is also being held to look into the incident further.
Brown, who went by the username HellooDomo, created content focused on Disney and its theme parks. She also co-founded Black Girl Disney, a platform dedicated to increasing representation in the community.
In a comment made on Brown's final Instagram post, her brother Patrick thanked her friends and supporters. "I wanted to take a a moment to say thank you to her social media fam for showing her so much love and light," he wrote. "Disney did bring her joy, but it was unparalleled that she found a community who loved her and Disney as much as she did. I will miss my sister and best friend and that infectious smile she always had. Thank you, truly, from the bottom of my heart. ❤️🥺"
