A Canadian TikToker has responded to a wave of backlash after a video of her calling herself “too pretty to work” has gone viral.

Lucy Welcher posted a selfie video several days ago in her car sipping on iced coffee where she said: “I do not want to work for the rest of my life. Does it look like I want to get up at 6AM for the next 60 years? No, I’m too pretty for that.”

The video went viral, with many being quick to call her out for being self-entitled and lazy. In true internet fashion, comments on TikTok and Twitter resorted to name-calling and questioning whether the TikToker was pretty enough to be making those types of statements.

Despite Welcher deleting the initial TikTok, she has responded to the backlash with a new video, with the caption “I’m gonna make a shirt that says “2 pretty 2 work,”” rating some of the mean comments directed towards her.

“Spot the difference challenge (extremely hard)” tweeted one user with a side-by-side photo of Welcher and Humpty Dumpty. Welcher rated it a 10/10 for making her laugh.

After going through more tweets criticizing her looks, Welcher says that in her original video, she was “obviously fucking joking, but nobody can take a joke and everyone’s literally bullying me.”

“Those are my favorites that don’t include death threats or telling me to die,” Welcher concludes.
