Florida boat blocks traffic on highway

Highway Patrol troopers in Florida had their hands full when a boat fell onto the interstate.

The Crestview Fire Department reported on Thursday night that a 40-foot pink boat fell off of a trailer, blocking westbound lanes of traffic on Interstate 10 for several hours.

The driver of the pick-up truck hauling the boat told the Highway Patrol that he noticed the trailer “swaying violently” from side-to-side before it crashed into the guardrail, causing the boat to break free. The boat flipped several times before it stopped on the highway. Fortunately, the fire department reported no injuries.

This incident is bizarre in its own right, but it follows a skyscraper-sized cargo ship that has been stuck in the Suez Canal for days. As a result, the accident is starting to take on a life of its own.
