On the latest episode of her Archetypes podcast, Meghan Markle invited her “dear friend” Sophie Grégoire Trudeau—wife of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau—to chat about motherhood and more.
The pair discussed on “Good Wife/Bad Wife, Good Mom/Bad Mom with Sophie Trudeau, Pamela Adlon and Sam Jay” how they met at a fashion awards night in Toronto around seven years ago. They also got into their shared reality as wives and mothers in the public eye, and the “crushing guilt” that comes with it.
We also get introduced to her “Sophie G” nickname, which is a little different than her more formal title these days, “Madame.”
The pair have remained friends over the years. Markle revealed in the podcast they drank wine poolside at her mansion over the summer. Markle had high praise for her longtime pal, saying in the podcast Grégoire Trudeau is “emblematic of strength that comes from embracing your humanity, even in the face of all these family and home and public pressures.”
