As you enjoy your extended weekend, be mindful of the importance of Martin Luther King Jr., an influential civil rights leader and social activist that made significant strides in American society in the 1950s and 1960s. On every third Monday in January, Americans get to celebrate the Nobel Peace Prize winner’s achievements and his life. The national holiday also happens to be his birthday.
MLK’s famous “I Have a Dream” speech, his march on Washington, and his march from Selma to Montgomery in Alabama are known all over the world.
