A Florida teen has been arrested after he fatally shot a rival gang member then bragged about the murder in a rap song.

Fox 13 reports La’Darion Chandler, 19, of Lakeland, Florida has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the December shooting death of John Daniel McGee, 33. After surviving the shooting, McGee, a known gang member who goes by “Bang Bang” on the street, spent 24 days in the hospital recovering. He later succumbed to his injuries because he failed to follow doctors’ orders and take their prescribed medicine.

“He’s a troublemaker, make no mistake about it, but he shouldn’t have died,” Polk County Sherif Grady Judd told reporters at a press conference this week.

According to Judd, McGee was more focused on seeking revenge for the shooting than healing from his injuries.

“He was going to get well and go back and seek revenge on his own against this other opposing gang member,” Judd said. “What we believe is he wanted to take care of it himself. He didn’t want that gang member locked up because if he was locked up, he couldn’t get to him.”

While investigating the shooting, law enforcement officials discovered that Chandler had made a rap video in which he boasted about the incident.

“He’s not much of a rapper. My rapper expert says he doesn’t sing well. He doesn’t move well. He’s just a terrible rapper. But, he’s a stupid rapper. He not only makes a rap video about shooting somebody, but he also admits to shooting the guy in the back. I’m a coward rapper, that’s what I am. Watch me shoot the guy in the back,” Judd stated.

Along with the first-degree murder charge, Chandler has been charged with convicted delinquent in possession of a firearm and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
