In harrowing video footage, a pilot can be seen fatally crashing just moments after revealing the gender of an expecting couple's child at a party in Mexico.

As reported by CNN, a video shows the pilot's Piper PA-25 crash after its left wing appeared to fail and separate from the fuselage. The plane was being used to reveal that the couple was expecting a baby girl, as the plane released pink smoke above the party. Authorities in Navolato said the pilot was treated at the scene of the crash in San Pedro and was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The name of the pilot has not yet been revealed, and there is no further information regarding what caused the crash. The pilot was the only person killed in the crash, which left no one at the party injured.

This isn't the first time a gender reveal party has left someone dead in Mexico. In 2021, a plane meant to fly a banner announcing the gender of an expectant couple crashed and killed two individuals near the coast of the Nichupte Lagoon in Cancun. Moments after the couple saw the sign announcing their child's gender, the plane took a nosedive straight into the water. Four passengers were onboard the plane, which did a series of stunts before the reveal, but only two of them were safely recovered from the scene of the crash.

That same year, as reported by USA Today, a 28-year-old man died in his New York home while working on a device that could be used for gender reveal parties exploded. The news came after a 26-year-old man from Michigan died after a small cannon exploded during a baby shower.
