An Oklahoma teacher was arrested and charged with first-degree rape after allegedly having a threesome with a student and a former teacher, according to reports.
Joyce Churchwell, 40, allegedly sent nude pictures and videos via Snapchat to a teenage student during the 2018-2019 school year. The student then went to Churchwell's home, where they had a threesome with a woman who used to teach in the Berryhill School District. The other woman was not charged.
The student was 18 at the time of the incident but in Oklahoma, teachers who have sex with students up to the age of 20 are charged with rape. The investigation into Churchwell began after someone informed the school resource officer that something strange was occurring.
The Berryhill School District released the following statement after it discovered the teacher's inappropriate relationship with the student, according to News on 6. She was immediately placed on leave of absence, and the Tulsa County Sheriff's Office believes that other students may have had "inappropriate contact with her."
