ComplexCon Long Beach 2019's Community Week has brought some interesting issues to light for the communities in Los Angeles and Long Beach with Day 3 being no exception. Welcome to the Legit Trappin' Career Fair.
Complex linked up with MADE Masterminds, an organization that's looking " to truly uplift the untapped human potential within communities of color," to put together the event, which featured companies that are committed to social equity around cannabis. The Fair also included a panel on restorative justice programs featuring Complex's own Speedy Morman, California state director for the Drug Policy Alliance Lynne Lyman, and Al Harrington, who retired from the NBA to start his own cannabis extracts company, Viola Brands, and has been advocating for the legalization of cannabis.
After the Career Fair, Complex partnered with The AMAAD Institute (Arming Minorities Against Addiction & Disease) for a Chat & Chew style event, which was hosted by influential philanthropist and activist in the media world including Ravneet Vohra, founder of Wear Your Voice magazine and award-winning media personality Ashlee Marie Preston. Held at the MLK Center in Los Angeles, the mixer focused on using your voice to inspire change.
