Nude Gym-Goer Claims He Thought Planet Fitness Was a 'Judgment-Free Zone'

Planet Fitness might want to change its tagline.

Over the weekend. a man stripped naked at one of the gym’s crowded locations in New Hampshire and proceeded to do yoga.

After being arrested at around 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, 34-year-old Eric Stagno defended himself by claiming he thought Planet Fitness was a “judgment-free zone.” Fair enough, considering he probably heard this from one of the company’s new commercials, which advertise the gym’s no-judgment philosophy. Unfortunately, nudity exceeds the limits of that zone, and Stagno was charged with indecent exposure/lewdness and disorderly conduct.

“When officers arrived, they found him there, completely nude: on his knees in a yoga-type position,” police Captain Brett Morgan said, according to the Boston Globe. “He walked into the gym, stripped down at the door, then proceeded to walk back and forth a couple of times before settling in on the yoga mats.”

Stango reportedly stripped down and checked himself out in the mirror before heading to the yoga mats, totally unaware of how much he was being judged. “Some of the comments some witnesses gave were that they felt uncomfortable, disgusted, sick, and unsafe,” Morgan said. “There were more witnesses coming forward than we could take names.”

He also reportedly had some “drug paraphernalia in his possession,” but it’s unclear if he was on drugs when he decided to strip nude, or just feeling a boost of confidence because it’s Leo season.

This whole situation is hilarious, so of course people on Twitter weighed in.

The most chilling thing about the man arrested for being naked in Planet Fitness is that he believed their tagline.
