Melania Trump hasn't made many appearances throughout her husband's GOP presidential campaign, but she discussed her life and marriage to Donald Trump in a new interview.

On MSNBC's Morning Joe Wednesday, Melania addressed why she's avoided the spotlight for the past few months, saying she wants to keep things "as normal as possible" for their son Barron, which means not joining the primary tour.

When asked what attracted her to the billionaire, Melania said, "His mind. His amazing mind."

When read a list of terms used to describe her husband, which included "racist, sexist, race-baiting, xenophobic, vulgarian-in-chief, and textbook narcissist," Melania defended Donald.

"It's normal that will come up. We are prepared for that. We have a thick skin," she said.

However, she seemed to distance herself from the GOP candidate, saying, "We're our own people. I'm my own person, he's his own person."
