Player(s): Dexter McCluster
Victor Cruz's 69-yard touchdown catch was supposed to be the turning point for the Giants after their sorry start. There was a chance it could've been similar to 2011, where Cruz's 99-yard touchdown against the Jets sparked an eventual run to the Super Bowl. After a missed Giants field goal before halftime and this 89-yard punt return by Dexter McCluster, it was clear this probably wasn't going to be the case. It wasn't clear that was going to be the Giants' only score in the game though.
McCluster jacks Cruz celebration and the Giants wouldn't—or perhaps couldn't—find a way to respond. The moment extends as a masturbatory sequence for head coach Andy Reid, who started his season by beating three of the four teams from his former NFC East division (the Redskins may very likely be next with the way they're playing). Reid's final game as an Eagle: a 42-7 blowout loss to the Giants. Big Red was triumphant on Sunday.
