According to Racked and The Financial Times, the pariah that is Mike Jeffries, notorious asshole and CEO of Abercrombie & Fitch, is retiring effective immediately. This comes after a long line of, you know, being pretty much the worst person ever.
Between allegations that he abused his private helicopter privileges and his disdain for, um, larger people, it's pretty safe to say that no one is overly sad to see him go, even though he's been with A&F since the '90s. Of course, just because he is gone now doesn't mean things are all fine and dandy at the cologne-infused Cool Teen™ clothing brand. Much like their middle America mall compatriots, they still have their work laid out for them to challenge H&M and Zara for the marketshare lost in the past few years. But with the certified freakazoid Jeffries gone, maybe the company can finally find its footing once again. The guy was a cancer and one of the only reasons media even cared to mention A&F. To add insult to injury, the company's stock rose roughly 7% before the market opened this morning once news of Jeffries' resignation broke. I may just have to cop a hoodie in celebration.
