Universal Works has joined forces with Yogi Footwear for a new line of moccasin-style shoes.
Designed with the menswear label’s Fall/Winter 2023 collection in mind, the seasonal collection includes two tumbled leather versions of Yogi’s ranger-style Finn moc, as well as third design which incorporates a cheeky faux fur print on the vamp.
A low-top, slip-on rework of the classic Hitch shoe is also featured in the line-up, while a final style, dubbed The Hitch Boot, arrives with traditional moccasin stitching detail, reflective of conscious focus on hand-worked details.
Speaking on the collaboration, UW’s David Keyte, a long-standing admirer of Yogi, said: “I have a genuine love of Yogi. They really do make something that can provide the comfort of a sneaker whilst fulfilling the need for a proper shoe. That’s easier said than done, but Yogi always manages to pull it off.
“The leopard print detail was inspired by a Yogi mule I’d seen a while back. When I saw it, I knew we had to include it, and it somehow gives the shoes a hint of rock ’n’ roll. In the end, it’s my hope that what we’ve ended up with are shoes The Clash might consider wearing if they were still playing.”
