A collection that that feels both novel and familiar.

Following its second collaboration with Oi Polloi, Nottingham-based label Universal Works has returned to present its Fall/Winter 2023 collection.

This season, the contemporary imprint has introduced a series of vintage Americana styles that diverge from its usual array of designs. Titled Far From Memphis, the offering is packed with non-conformist and rebellious ensembles that pay tribute to the work of American filmmaker Jim Jarmusch and his iconic comedy-drama films like Only Lovers Left Alive, The Dead Don’t Die, and Night On Earth.

Across the new line, Jarmusch’s bold themes collide with rock & roll influences, alluding to the British rock band, The Clash. Combining sartorial flair with sportswear and military details, the seasonal offering sees deep pile fleece jackets appear in bold camo and floral motifs, while utilitarian workwear jackets are cut from dusty pink herringbone wool.

Overshirts and gilets also feature, arriving alongside thick, heritage-inspired checked flannels with military-style quilted liners. Casual tailoring comfortably blends with utilitarian elements, while slouchy bottoms are paired with green kimono-style silhouettes, ribbed beanies, and seasonally-apt corduroy bucket hats.

You can cop the new collection via the Universal Works webstore.
