Manchester-based luxury streetwear label Represent has just released an 11-piece graphic capsule in partnership with American rock band Mötley Crüe. The latest of a long line of collaborations, the offering ranges from vintage wash t-shirts and hoodies to emblazoned shorts and a tank top.
Designed to reflect an authentic ‘80s vibe, each of the garments feature details such as cracked motifs that replicate the natural corrosion of vintage artwork, while the wash looks to mimic the weathering fade from the sun. Teaming imagery from the band’s 1989 album, Dr. Feelgood, and their 1987 LP, Girls, Girls, Girls, with its signature moniker, the new collection also includes slight distressing to the hems and neckline which reflect imperfections acquired by well-worn garments over time.
Speaking on the collaboration, Represent co-founder and design director, Mike Heaton, said: “10 years ago I read The Dirt by Neil Strauss and got my first glimpse into the life of one of the most notorious and decedent bands of the ‘80s. I’ve been obsessed ever since. I can remember shortly after first coming to L.A. and driving down the Sunset strip, seeing the iconic rock bars where these bands were made and picturing what life must have been like back in the early ‘80s. I think that feeling has resonated with me ever since, so to release this pop up in the Viper room feels only right for this collaboration. Vintage rock graphics are my expertise so being able to work both brand and band into the artwork creates a much deeper connection than your typical licensing deal. To see the Dr. Feelgood dagger through the Represent initial really evokes a true sense of the band and our brand coming together.”
The Represent x Mötley Crüe collection is available now on the Represent webstore. It will also be available at the brand’s pop-up in the Viper Room, Los Angeles, from 10am-3pm PST.
