Following their WORK SHOP running capsule with MAJO TECH and Satisfy, Our Legacy has returned with a Fall 2022 collection which reimagines a “child’s idea of the uniform, of its teacher, of a banker, a parent going to dinner, an office worker commuting” in a new, broken down approach.
Through a campaign shot by Berlin-based photographer Thomas Hauser, whose work often explores the candour of beauty, the imprint introduces a range of casual work outfits paired with glossy formalwear, and skirts designed with men in mind. Unleashed in a neutral colour palette, with pops of purple and light blue elevating some of the label’s key pieces, shirt-and-tie combinations are now reworked into vests, while this season’s trend of untucked shirts frequently appears throughout the campaign as homage to unconventional office attire.
A stellar array of puffy outerwear, luxurious overcoats, utilitarian pants, and an ensemble of sweaters and knits join the offering, while hoodies are worn under blazers for a semi-casual feel.
Speaking on the collection, Cristopher Nying, the Creative Director of Our Legacy, said: “I had this roughed up conservative style queued up, having a child in mind, looking up to the authority, feeling small… It’s one step into evergreen dressing and a foot in conservative classics, styles that are a bit ‘punctured,’ tweaked, and skewed — and also keeping the fine balance between an original occasional wardrobe.
“Then, some of these styles went into a more kind of distressed office style. Using the most simple wool cardigan with a leather shirt and raw kilt, large overcoats overcropped polo or large popover shirt. Creating a minimalistic take on this, lack of ties with only the tie clip left, banking shirts in huge proportions, high twist fabrics in simply constructed tailoring, rough tartans, raw velvet, distressed tuxedos, over-dyed knitwear. I’ve been living with a desire to change this authoritarian dressing with today’s view, why not wear a tuxedo jacket with cargo pants and a kilt wrapped, with heels for both men and women, always.”
