For its Fall/Winter 2023 collection, maharishi, the iconic, London-based streetwear imprint, is continuing its pacifist approach to military design with a range that takes inspiration from the utility and solid construction of industrial workwear over the last 500 years.

Titled An Exploration of Industrial Workwear, the new line looks to the uniforms of firefighters and construction workers from Japan, America and England. The reference can particularly be seen across a number of fabrics, including the Pearl Weave Cotton, which is influenced by the materials used in early Japanese firefighter kimonos.

The line is also dominated by key workwear styles which have been crafted from an original rugged, yet lightweight cloth that was first used for military combat uniform. Decorating the lining of outerwear, artworks from ukiyo-e masters Kuniteru and Kuniyoshi take centre stage.

To cap the range off, the contrast between Eastern-inspired, asymmetric closures is achieved through the introduction of waterproof fleece from the French mill Aplex and Hi-Vis flight nylon for a pop of brightness.

You can cop the collection now from the maharishi webstore. Get a closer look at the pieces in the shots below.
