Tumblr can help. If you’re an interior design/decorating junkie you can find a very large group of uses who regularly share inspiring photos of cool homes, apartments, and spaces in general. That said, if you are new to the game, you'll quickly get inspired.

Curated by Mark, a Spanish Architect and Designer, this tumblr focuses mainly on architecture, interior design, and landscape, but also includes some aesthetically pleasing lifestyle shots. You’ll find photographs of sleek industrial interiors and angular modern exteriors with some cool images of classic cars, menswear and pretty girls thrown in for good measure. The site is mainly photographs without much explanation, perfect for browsing, but you might have to do a little digging if you want more information on the images.

“The Black Workshop’s” furniture-only blog, “Only Furnitures” is perfect for those looking for just furniture inspiration. If you’re searching for ideas for your first non-IKEA bedroom set, look no further. What you’ll find: a lot of individual pieces shot on white backgrounds (not many decorating tips here), mostly innovative and Avant guard designs, but a few simple, modernist pieces as well. Similar to its companion blog, the furniture colors are very muted; if you love black, white and earth tones, you’ll find a lot of good ideas for your next furniture purchase, but you should probably look somewhere else if you’re interested in any chairs or couches with brighter colors.

This is the Tumblr for all the design nerds out there who are sick of seeing terrariums, taxidermy wildlife and Eames lounge chairs in every trendy interior design spread. Each entry in “Fuck Your Noguchi Coffee Table” presents a photograph of an artfully styled interior and then pokes fun at a one of many irritating and overdone decorating trends, like wood stumps as side tables or empty birdcages as “decoration”. And, if you don’t read the captions right away, you can test your design knowledge by playing a fun game of “guess the insult.”

“Unhappy Hipsters” is another sartorial site, produced anonymously, that’s sole purpose is to poke fun at neo-modern interior design. Similar to “Fuck Your Noguchi Coffee Table”, “Unhappy Hipsters” adds deadpan captions to highly curated editorial images (mostly photos from Dwell magazine). But unlike its contemporary, “Unhappy Hipsters” doesn’t just point out played-out style, the blog imagines what the (always seemingly lonely) people in the photographs are thinking. Do to their success with the Tumblr, the writers have also published a book, It’s Lonely in the Modern World.

As the title suggests “Scandinavian Modern” focuses on Scandinavia Design: chairs, lamps, desks, tables, storage, there’s even some exterior architecture pictured. The writer describes Scandinavian Design as a marriage between modern materials and traditional craft, that’s inspired by the area’s natural landscape, as well as it’s political and civic climate, ultimately “evoking organic forms and natural patterning.” If you’re really interested in this specific genre of Modern design this Tumblr should be your go to source.

For those more interested in interiors with an industrial and repurposed aesthetic, “The Archivist” will have the inspiration you’re looking for. In addition to the consistent photo stream of grungy lofts, the site also features a good number of typography pieces, like worn out signs, wood crates, and old metal letters.

Due to the amount of topics covered the blog has implemented a really convenient search tool, where you can narrow your image search to specific rooms, like living rooms or kitchens. “Design Traveller” is consistent mix of architecture, home décor, and home accessories, for both function and fashion. The blog does a nice job coordinating everything and keeping within a specific style, regardless of the content. Their aesthetic is more rustic than modern, but they still include modern pieces mixed with eclectic pieces and vintage items.

“The Brick House” name seems like it’s referencing an Adobe with how eclectic and Southwestern the interiors feel. The Tumblr is full of warm earth tones, Navajo blankets, animal hide rugs and lots of wood and leather.
