Even after much hype preceding its release, the Maison Martin Margiela for H&M collection is not selling out at a fever pitch. Bloggers are reporting that the collection is still available in large quantities in the New York City area. WWD reported last week that smaller crowds in Europe were lining up for the release of the collection, quite different than the lines that formed for previous collaborations. However, a spokesperson from H&M says, "We are pleased with the selling of the collection; it is exactly what we expected." Is this a bad sign for future high-low collaborations? For the sake of our wallets, let's hope not.
