For a new shoot in Harper's Bazaar, Takashi Murakami brought his plush creatures out to play. Shot by photographer Jason Schmidt for the magazine's December/January issue, the spread features model Angela Lindvall and the stars of Murakami's film Jellyfish Eyes

The playful photo shoot mixes the bright colors of Japanese pop with the sunny pastels of California. Murakami's cuddly creatures hang out with Lindvall in Los Angeles, grabbing a snow cone from an ice cream truck, sunbathing by the pool, and accompanying her to In-N-Out Burger. Murakami's order at the burger joint? "Cheeseburger and fries. The problem whenever I come to America is that the hamburgers are so delicious, I end up eating one every two days and fattening myself into a round ball," he tells Harper's Bazaar in an interview on Tuesday.

Also in the interview, Murakami talks about moving from "superflat" painting to the big screen for Jellfish Eyes and names Vans and J.J. Abrams as his dream collaborations.
