Yohji Yamamoto and sportswear heavyweight adidas have just unveiled the visuals for their Y-3 Spring/Summer 2015 collection. And for this go-around, they’ve tapped into the longstanding culture of surf punk.

Shot by famed photographer Kacper Kasprzyk with creative direction by Lloyd & Co, the campaign is set upon a rundown pier that evokes the LOCALS ONLY vibe commonly associated with the setting. Gritty, raw, and super saturated colors nod to the surf punk imagery from the 1980s, while the updated floral motif references the Hawaiian surf themes from the ‘60s and ‘70s.

Though the range is definitely throwback-inspired, the use of synthetic and artificial materials in the shoot delivers a futuristic element that perfectly compliments the line’s punk-tinged garments. In all, it’s a unique presentation of vibrant and slightly deviant themes that have maintained relevancy throughout the decades.
