It’s been a minute since Shepard Fairey had a solo exhibit in NYC. Five years to be exact. However, earlier this evening, the famed street artist hosted an opening reception for his “On Our Hands” show at the Jacob Lewis Gallery in Chelsea—showcasing his new selection of paintings that address the current issues facing our world.

The 45-year-old OBEY founder, who is well known for his iconic Barack Obama Hope poster, gave ABC News a sneak peek at the exhibit before its official opening tomorrow. Throughout the tour, Fairey explains his technique, inspiration, and the messages behind the pieces, touching on everything from oil spills to political lobbying to widespread apathy.

Take a look below to see images of the “On Our Hands” exhibit, which will open tomorrow and conclude on Oct. 24. To see the full private tour, go to the ABC News website.
