Mirror Mirror: The Guide To "Workaholics" Fashion

This feature is a part of Complex's Workaholics Week.

The guys behind Comedy Central's Workaholics are known for taking off their shirts a lot, but they've also donned some really interesting clothing choices in the first two seasons. Sure, the wacky getup might have had a comedic effect... but what you didn't know is that Anders, Adam, and Blake are actually dedicated fashionistas with supremely honed senses of style.

Indeed, every single thing they rocked was a deliberate fashion statement, thrust upon the world via the show as if to say "you ain't up on this!" We sat down with the three visionary fashionistas as we got a deeper look at the men behind the outfits. Every style has a story, check out Mirror Mirror: The Guide To Workaholics Fashion.

Episode: "Model Kombat"

Adam: Well really my most attractive body part — like a lot of men — are my nipples. So I wanted to find a shirt that would keep them always exposed — but not fully exposed. They had to be to the point where you had to look for them — you wanted to see the nipples. It makes women more enticed to stare at my nipples. And I feel like they really got moist over it, which is easy to believe right? Fashion is rarely practical. This had no functionality to it, it’s strictly to show off my nipples. Unless you’re wearing it and it’s a really hot day — in which case, sure, it’s a little practical.

Episode: "Office Campout"

Adam: We always thought squirrel suits would be the next fashion wave… turns out we were wrong, but we still implemented them into the show.

Blake: The thing about fashion is you gotta take risks. And with that we kind of rolled the dice and said: "Yes! Squirrel suits will be big." But lo and behold, the price of squirrel suits really skyrocketed… because of the recession.

Episode: "The Strike"

Adam: Sometimes you have to sweat for fashion. I know I took that to heart. Which is why I was wearing the most uncomfortable thing you can wear when you’re shooting in July.

Anders: My grandfather wore a green jacket often during the holidays. So that was a homage to Elmer Holm. Barry, our costume guy, had it made bespoke. So it was quite fitted.

Episode: "The Promotion"

Anders: Well you know since that episode, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, and other performers have since hopped on that bandwagon of avant-garde style. I don’t wanna discount their efforts, but I will say that I was the original weirdo.

Episode: "Muscle I'd Like To Flex"

Adam:I wanted to look like I Tokyo Drifted myself to a Gold’s Gym. I wanted to bring that retro vibe into today’s era with pants, boots, and a mesh shirt. So far I’ve seen no one wear any of those things, so I’m not sure how much I’ve affected society with them.

Complex: Well we’ve seen printed pants for men in some recent fashion collections. We’re sure that’s directly because of your influence.

Adam:Yeah, I 100% agree with you.

Episode: "We Be Ballin"

Blake:A lot of people responded rather positively, but I have to admit I was disappointed with it because initially, we wanted to go with a walrus. But it turns out, walrus are some on some sort of endangered species list or something, so we were like: "Fuck it. Kill whatever you can in California." So we went ahead with the California state bear. We got lucky with that one and the kids really took to it, but if we could do it all over again, I think we’d definitely go with a walrus.

Episode: "Heist School"

Adam: My look is called "I’m Feeling This," ripped from the Blink 182 song also called "I’m Feeling This," because that is what everyone says when they see that outfit. They say "I’m feeling this!"

Blake:I basically just told our props department to just rip that look out of Jared Leto’s catalog. I probably call that the "30 Seconds to Mars and Counting" look, because that whole ensemble is pretty much blasting off into the orbit of amazing fashion.

Anders:I think I’ll call mine the "Shaunders" ensemble, which derives from a Stand and Deliver/Coach Carter/Dangerous Minds-type look. Definitely a West Coast/Urban/Latino-inspired outfit.

Episode: "Muscle I'd Like To Flex"

Blake: We were just into that fantasy realm and hip-hop vibe that Sean John does so well. We just wanted to take it to the next level. We thought P. Diddy was really hitting it with his clothing line, but we thought: "what is the game missing?" Well obviously: wizards.

Adam: Purple and platinum were really, really big that season.

Anders: You know since then, I feel like a lot of people have really been copying our style: Kanye, Drake…

Blake:We also took a lot of influence from the film Black Knight starring Martin Lawrence.

Anders: We call it fantasy chic.

Episode: "Straight Up Juggahos"

Blake:For the makeup, we looked up to the only two designers there are in the Juggalo world: Shaggy 2 Dope and Violent J.

Adam:Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope are definitely the Chanel and Louis Vuitton of that world.

Anders:My make-up was a little bit "Eric Draven," I will say that.

Complex: Now Adam, you got christened with the Juggalo name “Sugar Bear,” but Blake and Anders did not. If you guys did, what would they be?

Anders: Mine would probably be "BalloonAnimalDick." Just one word.

Blake: Oh damn. That’s a tough one. I feel like it’d have to be bestowed upon you, right? You can’t just make your own.

Anders:You can have BalloonAnimalDick. I’ll give you that one. You have to name me, then.

Blake:Ok. Uh… Chief… Chief Dick Puff.

Anders:And there it is.

Blake: Can I change his name to Butthole Titan?

Adam:For me fashion is all about confidence. If you’re losing confidence, you’re losing sex appeal. You can be wearing a plain, silk-infused v-neck white T-shirt, but if you’re oozing confidence, you’re gonna look fashionable, you’re gonna look cool, and women are gonna wanna s your d.

Blake:That means "suck your dick.”

Anders: I will say "never feel awkward about overdressing or underdressing." It’s too late.

Blake:I think that it should just be a rule of thumb that if your job asks you to cut your hair… that means that it’s time to quit that job.
