There are a few films with that signature "oh shit!" moment. You're watching a particular scene and it hits you—whatever it is that the character's wearing, you kind of need it in your life. Unfortunately, plenty of times that novelty gear is made possible more by Hollywood magic than skilled artisans and precise tailors. Sometimes though, it's just a really good costume. From gear we'd like to see interpreted by today's designers, to some stuff that'll remain wishful thinking, here are 15 Clothing Items From Movies We Wish Existed.

15. Sailor Ripley's Snakeskin Jacket

Movie: Wild At Heart

Sailor's snakeskin jacket has been referenced in collections by designer's like Mark McNairy, but a genuine python jacket would be amazing to wear. Of course, you could only wear nothing but black colors with it, and probably learn how to be handy with a knife—but hey, representing your individuality has its price.

14. Harry Potter's Invisibility Cloak

Movie: Harry Potter films

Honestly, there is no possible way this thing would be used for good if it was a real thing. Besides the creepo perverts who would use it to stalk and spy on unsuspecting women, you would also have master thieves using its powers to finagle all sorts of shit—from iPhones to bank money to Funyuns. Not that they actually can't afford Funyuns, but shit, when you're invisible, why bother paying for anything?

13. Team Zissou's adidas Sneakers

Movie: The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou

adidas missed out on a prime marketing opportunity here. While there are plenty of customs available on eBay, there's nothing quite like an officially co-branded item. Maybe one day they'll actually happen, but we're not holding our breath—even if we happen to be in a Team Zissou submersible vehicle.

12. Spider-Man's Web-Shooters

Movie: The Amazing Spider-Man

Although we'd need the proportionate spider-strength to properly wield these, it just seems like it'd be fun as hell to swing throughout New York City. Who needs the MTA when you've got chemically-engineered web fluid to get you around?

11. Andrew Largeman's Wallpaper Shirt

Movie: Garden State

All-over prints are huge right now, so this gag shirt would actually seem pretty fresh when taken out of the joke context it's placed in. Ironically, with camo being so in right now, the fact that this paisley pattern blends perfectly with the wall beneath Zach Braff's Andrew Largeman character is kind of funny. We can imagine a similar version being put out by a brand like Nepenthes or Dries Van Noten.

10. Nada's Sunglasses

Movie: They Live

Forget the whole "birther" phenomenon. Nada's sunglasses allowed him to see the rich and powerful as they really were—gross aliens with skull like faces. They also revealed all advertisements as subliminal messages meant to control the human populace. Perhaps the real life equivalent would determine if products really perform as advertised, and also reveal who's an asshole on the inside.

9. Patches O'Houlihan's Leather Bomber

Movie: Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story

The funniest thing about Rip Torn—other than the fact that his name is freaking Rip, Torn—was his turn as a former dodgeball champ turned recovering piss drinker. Arguably given some of the film's best lines, his worn-in bomber jacket adorned with faded dodgeball league patches was more enviable than either outfit of Globo Gym or the Average Joes. Well, we might settle for Christina Taylor's bondage gear, if she came with it.

8. The Joker's Bespoke Ensemble

Movie: The Dark Knight

The Joker pretty much has achieved the ideal wardrobe of a #menswear snob. Dudes who see it wanna know where to get it, but there are zero labels and it's all custom made. Yo, the Clown Prince of Crime is serious about his topcoat game though. Not only is it rendered in a rich purple reminiscent of a a skinned Grimace, the inner contrast lining shows even if he's a psychopath, he's a psychopath with taste. Why so serious with your style?

7. Mugatu's Turtleneck

Movie: Zoolander

We can't say the same for his "Derelicte" collection, but Mugatu's turtleneck looked mighty cozy. Reminiscent of boxy silhouettes from modern day designers like Shaun Samson, it probably wouldn't be too long before a rapper gets spotted in one.

6. Marty McFly's Form-Fitting Jacket

Movie: Back to the Future II

It's hard enough finding your size if you're an extra-smedium, which is why McFly's jacket was as enviable as his footwear. Imagine if all clothing were one size fits all. Although, by today's standards, this varsity/bomber combination actually fits kind of baggy. Oh well, at least that means tailors will stay in business for a couple more decades.

5. Data's Trench Coat, Belt, and Sneakers

Movie: The Goonies

Asian stereotypes aside, Data's military-inspired trench coat was pretty badass. The hidden boxing glove "Bully Buster" and the grappling hook hidden inside his belt buckle were one of the many ingenious things we tried to pull off either as kids or for Halloween—often times hurting ourselves in the process. While modern companies attempt this blend of technology and utility with stuff like pockets sized perfectly for smartphones and iPads—we long for when the future consisted of homemade rocket boosters in our Nikes.

4. Deckard's Whole Outfit

Movie: Blade Runner

Indiana Jones receives too much credit for being the Harrison Ford character with a lasting influence on men's style. Deckard's kit could have easily come from designers like Junya Watanabe for the shirt, Billy Reid for the coat, and The Hill-Side for the tie. Damn, we would actually rock all that. Get to it, designers!

3. Batman's Utility Belt

Movie: Batman films

What he has in it: smoke grenades, batarangs, high-tech gadgets for spying or fighting crime, maybe Tic-Tacs? What we'd put in it: Bat-condoms, Bat-iPhone, Bat-lint, Bat-laundry quarters.

2. Iron Man's Mark VII Armor

Movie: The Avengers

Two bracelets that summon a badass suit of armor with not only the power of flight-but intradimensional travel? Plus, that thing has WiFi, or at least, a robotic butler AI programmed into it. Whatever, sign us up!

1. Marty McFly's Self-Lacing Air Mags

Movie: Back to the Future II

Yo, so Nike teased everyone with the limited-edition light-up joints that went to charity (with each pair going for thousands of dollars). But with 2015 two years away, we really, really, really hope they've perfected that self-lacing feature. There are so many people whose dreams would literally come true if they pulled that off, and they made it a General Release. COME ON TINKER!
