The 10 Worst Dressed Fashion Designers

You'd assume they would dress better than this...

To be honest, it was pretty easy to figure out the 10 worst dressed fashion designers. We either thought of a shitty brand and looked up the designer (Ed Hardy? Christian Audigier), or thought of a designer who was so engrossed in the fantasy realm of their own creation that they've completely lost their minds and dress accordingly (Karl Lagerfeld). There's also the old guys trying to dress like rock stars, the sleazoids with orange faces, and guys who try to be fashion-forward but end up looking like clowns.

Is it an oxymoron that so many designers of high fashion can't dress themselves? Not necessarily. You think Hollywood's best directors can act? Probably not. But that doesn't make it any less fun to ridicule them. Click through to check out The 10 Worst Dressed Fashion Designers.

10. Renzo Rosso

Brand: Diesel

This list kicks off with a recurring feature: an older guy who tries to dress like a rockstar by wearing all black. Instead, Renzo Rosso, the founder and president of Diesel, just looks like he has the coke-sweats and gets really inappropriate in VIP sections and red light districts around the world. Dear Fashion Gods, please don't ever let our future daughters find themselves alone in a room with this man.

9. Walter Van Beirendonck

Brand: Walter Van Beirendonck

If this list was of the best beards in fashion, Walter Van Beirendonck would probably be #1. As one of the members of the avant-garde Antwerp Six, the Belgian designer wears silly and bright clothing that originates in the land full of tumbling gnomes and other whimsical woodlands creatures that must exist in his head. While we abhor his personal style, we can't stay mad at him. Dude looks kinda cuddly.

8. Johan Lindeberg

Brand: BLK DNM

Similar to #5 on this list, Johan Lindeberg of BLK DNM has a uniform that doesn't change much from day to day. It's fine to be consistent, but JoJo looks like he's been wearing the same thing since The Ramones were just busting out of the Rockaways. And how badass can a leather jacket look when it's placed over various floppy scarves and scoop neck t-shirts? If this is the contemporary downtown rock 'n roll look that BLK DNM is all about, then we're jumping on the uptown express.

7. Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana

Brand: Dolce & Gabbana

You would think that the two designers behind the numerous racy signature pieces Dolce & Gabbana is known for would be exciting dressers themselves. Alas, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana have only managed to perfect the boring schlub look, and throwing in the odd thigh-high denim rip is not helping anyone out. But maybe they should solve their current tax evasion problems before setting their sights on personal style...

6. Roberto Cavalli

Brand: Roberto Cavalli

Roberto Cavalli found success early on by patenting a leather printing technique that caught the attention of Hermès and Pierre Cardin. In 1970, at age 30, Cavalli launched his eponymous brand that still sells extravagent clothing today, and Cavalli is still dressing like he wishes he was 30. Instead of re-capturing some young go-hard magic with his all-black ensembles, Cavalli looks like that old dude steady lurkin' in the club who makes wary girls keep one hand over their drinks when he's prowling nearby.

5. Karl Lagerfeld

Brand: Chanel, Fendi, Karl Lagerfeld

The man may be regarded as a living deity, but he dresses like a goddamn weirdo. If you've ever read or seen an interview with him, you've come to expect strangeness out of the man, and sartorially he does not disappoint: the gloves, the sunglasses, the collars! Karl has undoubtedly been one of the most successful and profitable designers ever, but he also kinda looks like Rufus from Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure.

4. Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren

Brand: Viktor & Rolf

The Dutch duo behind Viktor & Rolf have very quickly risen in the ranks of the fashion world, and their avant-garde runway shows are always unpredictable and groundbreaking. Their personal style could be described similarly, but without the positive connotations. Weird detailing, very loud prints, and nauseating fabrics sometimes make us think we're going to viktor and ralph up our lunch.

3. Dean and Dan Caten

Brand: DSQUARED2

So, to start off, why don't we list some of the celebrities known to have worn DSQUARED2: Fergie, Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears, Lenny Kravitz, Nicolas Cage... You get the point. The Canadian twin brother designers Dean and Dan usually wear matching outfits, which is cute when twins do it as children but pretty fucking weird when they still do it as grown men. In their case, the weirdness is overshadowed by the atrocious outfits adorning their matching frames. These bros need to step it up if they want to stylistically fuck with the Olsen twins, the ATL twins, or even those really fat twins on the small motorbikes.

2. Christian Audigier

Brand: Christian Audigier, Lord Baltimore, Lady Baltimore

As the Godfather of Douche and the creator of the fashion brand of choice for date rapists around the world, you best believe Christian Audigier was going to be near the top of this list. Was there ever any doubt that the former designer of Ed Hardy would dress terribly?
