Last year's mild winter is now a distant, frozen memory. This past week has seen incredibly frigid temperatures sweep across the country, sending people in a frenzy to the backs of their closets for the heaviest coats, gloves, sweaters, and hats they could find. We hit the streets of NYC to see how people were dealing with single digit wind chill temps.

Just because your extremities are experiencing frostbite doesn't necessarily mean you have to dress poorly. We looked at these 15 guys and judged their steez along with the likelihood of their surviving these incredibly harsh temps. From the safety your warm computer's glow, check out 15 Pictures of Guys Freezing Their Asses off in NYC.

Style Assessment: This extra-long North Face parka looked like it was made for someone who had to brave these temps frequently. It covered three-fourths of his body, and even if it wasn't freezing out we'd thirst after this piece.

Likelihood of Survival: His pride will be his downfall. He obviously knows how cool he looks, and readily admits that he's simply not a hat person. Who the fuck cares! Cover your dome or you won't survive to see Valentine's Day.

Style Assessment: Dope parka, clean denim, and classic chukkas. Dude stays stylin' even when Jack Frost is throwing all types of shade, wind, and sub-zero temps.

Likelihood of Survival: Quite possibly, but it all depends on whether or not he gets a scarf. Why you showin' off your neck to the elements? No girls are out thirstin' this week, they're all huddled up in scarves and parkas, like you should be.

13

Style Assessment: Interesting way to wear the hood under the hat, something we saw Pigalle do with their recent runway show. But it's hard to look as cool as the Pigalle crew when you're freezing your ass off.

Likelihood of Survival: RIP, this guy. That hat ain't doing shit for his head's warmth, and he clearly chose style over appropriate dress this morning. Sometimes, it's just not worth it.

Style Assessment: Nothing wrong with an M-65, but his accessories game is weak. Every detail counts, so make sure you're not lacking in the scarf, hat, and glove department.

Likelihood of Survival: Nope! An M-65 is perfect for the fall and spring, but it's time to break out the heaviest parka you own and put it over a mid-weight M-65. This guy probably froze immediately after we took his picture.

Style Assessment: This dude is living proof that workwear, when done right, will always be stylish. There's a reason why brands like Carhartt have been around forever.

Likelihood of Survival: He'll survive, and then he'll stunt on the other wack looking survivors. Bow down to the style king of the upcoming Ice Age.

Style Assessment: He may be old, but with experience comes knowledge. Tonal textured layers? That hat?! This dude is doin' it right.

Likelihood of Survival: We've seen Russians wearing those hats, and it's cold as fuck over there. So we'll assume this guy knows his shit and has survived many a gnarly winter before. He's good.

9

Style Assessment: This guy's knit game is on point. If only we could say the same for his kicks.

Likelihood of Survival: He'll survive, but his first mission this spring is to cop some better kicks. Do you not know about all your options?

Style Assessment: This kid has a pretty decent outfit going on. Ain't nothing wrong with a classic peacoat, denim, and a good pair of boots.

Likelihood of Survival: He'll survive the cold, but when the temps make it back to double digits we hope he'll try something new. Take a style risk this winter, son!

8

Style Assessment: This dude is seriously strapped up for the cold. He might have sacrificed some steez, but hey, sometimes function takes severe precedent over form. Still though, he looks like he's headed to a G.I. Joe casting.

Likelihood of Survival: He'll for sure survive. He's practically wearing a gimp mask to limit his exposure, and he even has an extra pair of super heavy-duty gloves.

6

Style Assessment: Except for the dreaded hoodie under the overcoat, this dude's simple and clean look is pretty solid.

Likelihood of Survival: He'll survive. Only a few inches of his skin are exposed, and it looks like those boots have been through some shit before.

5

Style Assessment: There's some sort of color coordination going on, but everything is a little too bunched up and confused. If he survives, maybe he can start taking notes on other dudes who get street styled.

Likehood of Survival: He probably won't make it. He's too confused to be able to survive such harsh weather.

Style Assessment: Timbos will always get a pass, and his coat is simple and clean, but the jeans need work and that bag needs an upgrade. But he's rocking that scarf like he truly does not give a fuck, and that's always a positive style statement.

Likelihood of Survival: Dude has the right idea with the scarf. Stay warm at all costs. He'll make it.

1

Style Assessment: This guy clearly values warmth over steez, which, for now, is fine with us. Nothing too special is going on, but the jacket evokes Alexander Wang's FW13 collection. Dude definitely needs to find a better pair of hikers, though. Check out Diemme or Danner, homie!

Likelihood of Survival: With his face secured, this guy will only lose a few toes. Looks like his hands already froze and were chiseled off.

3

Style Assessment: With black jeans and a timeless piece like this baseball jacket, he can go a little nuts with the fair isle scarf and full-zip hoodie. Co-sign.

Likelihood of Survival: He'll make it, but just barely. If he wants to survive fully intact, he'd tuck in his shirt.

2

Style Assessment: Well, he definitely got Kanye's memo. He definitely has some stylish aspects going on (camo, tight roll, vibrant blue bomber), but now is not the time to wear woven kicks!

Likelihood of Survival: No. Who the fuck would go sockless in wovens when it's colder than a witch's titty outside? This kid is gonna lose his feet, topple over, and then serve as a wind blockade for survivors to huddle behind.
