As the year draws to a close, we take time to reflect. For hypebeasts, a lifestyle whereby impulse and bad decisions are a daily occurance, the end of the year is a time to look back and realize what shouldn't have happened. While we can't guarantee that hypebeasts will ever stop falling for the most hyped goods and publicly torturing themselves by camping out for days on end, we can understand that even the most ridiculous guys in the game wish they could take some things back. These are 10 Things Hypebeasts Regret Doing in 2014.
I regret rioting over the Supreme Foams because now I'm writing this in jail.
The Supreme Foamposite release is one for the record books (especially considering that they never were formally released in-store anyways). So yeah, you got wild outside the Supreme store when the cops shut the release down, but now you're dealing with an assault charge and you still don't have Supreme Foams.
I regret burning all my Hood By Air and Been Trill after listening to “Multiply” once.
Oh you thought everyone else was burning their HBA after “Multiply”? Sure that track was fire (no pun intended) but this isn't like when LeBron took his talents to South Beach. That stuff is expensive, and we don't know about you, but we're not really down with burning any part of our curated closets.
I regret buying a vintage Vivienne Westwood Mountain Hat.
“This is such a low-key flourish,” you thought to yourself as you stumbled upon a vintage Vivienne Westwood hat at your local thrift shop. Sure it's obscure cop, but that's the brilliance—you'd be standing out. Then…well, the Grammys Pharrell happened.
I hate that I glow at night with all this 3M
You were so adamant about how 3M was going to be the alternative fabric of 2014 that you copped snapbacks, shoes, and t-shirts with the material all over it. Now when you try to avoid your crazy ex/the cops/traffic, you can't help but be seen on the street.
I regret tattooing a hashtag onto my body
Unfortunately #BEEN TRILL# wasn't going to last forever, and aside from Rocky bashing their coolness to the netherrealm in the aforementioned “Multiply” even one of the label's most prominent members—Virgil Abloh—has moved well beyond his internet/emoji/meme centric brand. Unfortunately, while we move on, your body will forever remain as a living memorial to a Jimmy Fallon sketch.
I regret winning the eBay auction for Mike the Ruler's school ID
Sure it started as a joke or two, bidding on something as insane as Mike the Ruler's 2014-2015 school ID, driving the price to astronomical levels. Unfortunately, when you hit the “place bid” button one too many times, you wound up winning the infamous ID card—along with a five digit price tag.
I regret spending more time camping out than I did with my (now ex) girlfriend
A good girlfriend is one who is down with you no matter what you do or what you're into. Most girls can understand (and forgive) a few camp outs. But when you're skipping date night month after month and spending more money on your cops than you are on being with her, it's only a matter of time until she pulls a Ye, and drops you from the team.
I regret getting frostbite while camping out overnight for a sneaker drop because now, with no toes, I need a new size.
Camping out in the winter is a risk-reward situation. The temperatures would deter any sane human being from standing outside for more than a few minutes, and you're planning on sleeping in it. Unfortunately, while you ended up earning yourself a key spot in the line, you ended up getting gnarly frostbite on your feet. So much for wearing a sample size anymore…
I regret being the eleventh like on all of my Instagram posts
Like number eleven is the pivotal first step in obtaining Instagram selfie relevance, and the beginning to your digital style presence. Unfortunately, if you're having trouble cresting 10 likes, having your own like be number 11 isn't an influencer™ move my guy. Hopefully the patron saint of fuccbois decided to bless you with more followers this season.
I regret buying a Supreme Ruff Ryders jersey because it made me sad to think about Drag-On.
With the Ruff Ryders limited period of success, only DMX and Swizz Beatz were able to become the true stars of the group (even if that stardom was as short-lived as the Ruff Ryders' dominance). While you copped that jersey out of nostalgia for a different time in hip-hop, all it's done is drudge up concerns about what really happened to Drag-On, Jin, and Yung Wun.
