Today in Twitter race relations: Marie Claire sent out a tweet propping Kendall Jenner for "taking bold braids to an epic new level," read: cornrows. While their actual article on what they've dubbed the "undercut braid" does include a nod to cornrows (with a gallery that does include black women) the tweet admittedly implies Kendall invented cornrows, kind of like how Miley Cyrus invented twerking. An implication to which Twitter did not take kindly, forcing MC to apologize for their poor phrasing. Take a look at the fracas below:

Why don't you go to an elementary school with black girls & tell me once again how Kendall Jenner started cornrows as a trend? @marieclaire
New? Ever heard of black people? “@marieclaire: Kendall Jenner takes bold braids to a new epic level: pic.twitter.com/DY1Fj1Vx9I”
We didn’t mean to offend or imply that cornrows were new. Our tweet was poorly worded.
We thought her hair looked great and recognize women have been styling their hair like this for ages.
